5 Reasons We’re Thankful for Tennis

It’s that time of year! What are you most thankful for?

On everyone’s lists are the essentials: family and friends, health, food and shelter. And you know what’s on every tennis player’s list: tightly strung rackets, the pop of a fresh can of balls, warm weather, and great competition. But what makes tennis such an awesome sport?

Here’s 5 reasons why we’re thankful that tennis exists:

  1. IT’S A LIFETIME SPORT - No matter if you start playing tennis as a kid or as an adult, it is a game that you can play at any age. We love to see our youngest First Serve Tennis players learning to hit the ball over the net, and we love to see our seniors getting together on Sunday mornings for a friendly doubles match.

  2. PHYSICAL HEALTH BENEFITS - If you play tennis, your body is pretty fit! It takes a true athlete to run across a tennis court and return points at a quick pace. During every tennis match your blood is pumping, you’re burning calories, and you’re keeping your body in tip top shape.

  3. MENTAL HEALTH BENEFITS - Tennis is an incredibly mental game that requires focus and strategy. Keeping your brain active while you’re playing tennis keeps you cognitively and emotionally healthy too!

  4. THE FRIENDSHIPS - Tennis friendships are built to last. Playing this awesome game builds connections on the court that transfer to life off the court. We love the community we’ve built at First Serve Tennis and we know that the strong bonds amongst our players (and beyond) will last long into the future (just like the amazing friendship between our founders, Matt and Aaron, who have been playing tennis together since they were kids!).

  5. IT’S JUST FUN! And at First Serve Tennis we love to have fun!
