  • Aaron Reznik, tennis

    Aaron Reznik, Co-Founder

    Aaron grew up in Montclair, NJ and has been teaching tennis for over 7 years. He’s coached hundreds of youth and adult clients, including high school varsity and ranked tournament players. Aaron played singles for the Montclair High School varsity tennis team, was a nationally ranked tournament player, and graduated from the University of Maryland where he played for their club tennis team.

    Aaron has used his knowledge from training at multiple academies throughout NJ, working with many coaches around the country, and competing at a high level to help players grow their game and develop a lifelong passion for tennis, as well as improve their technique, strategy, and mindset.

    Aaron takes an adaptive approach to helping his players by tailoring his coaching to their specific needs. He works with complete beginners giving them an exciting introduction to the sport, and experienced players looking to grow their game.

  • Matthew Slowinski, Tennis

    Matthew Slowinski, Co-Founder

    Matt grew up in Montclair, NJ and has over 6 years of teaching experience at the beginner, intermediate, and high-performance levels. He has coached players of all ages and levels, helping his students accomplish their goals and grow their passion for the game while having fun doing so.

    Matt graduated from Regis High School in NYC, and went on to play 4 years of Division 1 college tennis at College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA. He served as team captain his junior and senior years, and competed at the number 1 spot in both singles and doubles. He has experience competing against some of the top schools and players in the country.

    Over the past several years, Matt’s passionate coaching has helped players of all ages and levels improve their performance while developing a love for the sport. His goal-oriented approach has helped his students improve to reach their desired level of play. No matter the level, Matt is always ready to pass down his knowledge and experience to help his players succeed.

  • John Odell, Tennis Coach

    John Odell, Staff Pro

    Prior to joining First Serve Tennis, John had been a teacher and tennis coach at Montclair Kimberly Academy for 20 years. John grew up in Verona and was an all-state tennis player in 1991. After graduating from Syracuse University, John coached high school tennis and a variety of other sports at numerous schools throughout New Jersey.

    John is an incredible communicator, facilitator, and sports guru. His passion is helping players of all ages learn and grow, and ensuring that they progress correctly - one step at a time. John focuses most of his coaching on beginner and intermediate-level kids and adults.

  • Mike Provenzano, Tennis Coach

    Mike Provenzano, Staff Pro

    Mike is a Montclair, New Jersey native with over 20 years of playing and coaching experience. Mike also served as the assistant coach for the men’s tennis team at Army West Point. He played high-level tennis from junior USTA tournaments to Division 1 college tennis, where he served as captain for the Sacred Heart University team.

    Mike is a USPTA Elite and Platform Professional, and has coached at a number of tennis academies throughout Northern New Jersey. Mike gives private lessons and teaches various clinics.

  • Joleta Budiman, Tennis Coach

    Joleta Budiman, Staff Pro

    Joleta has been playing tennis since she was 5. She came to the United States from Indonesia to play D1 college tennis for NJIT where she led her team as captain and won many awards including “freshman of the year”, “MVP of the year”, and “doubles player of the year”. She also reached an ITF junior ranking of 365 in the world.

    Joleta spent years helping coach her college teammates, as well as a variety of other players of all levels she’s met throughout her tennis journey. She is incredibly nice, friendly, and loves the game of tennis. She will be helping coach all levels of kids and adult clinics.

  • Matthew Tuorto, Tennis Coach

    Matthew Tuorto, Staff Pro

    Matt graduated from Moravian University where he played first singles and first doubles for four years, and helped their team win Moravian's first ever ECAC Championship.

    Matt also coached the boys and girls Varsity Tennis Team at Pequannock High School, and has multiple years of experience teaching private lessons.

    Prior to attending Moravian University, he graduated from Verona High School where played four years of varsity tennis.

  • Darwin Aguirre, Tennis Coach

    Darwin Aguirre, Staff Pro

    Darwin is a USPTR High Performance certified coach with a huge passion for tennis. He was born and raised in Paterson NJ, and over the last 10 years, has worked with clubs, academies, and programs all over the NJ area. Darwin still trains and competes as a player.

    He has taught tennis at all levels from beginner to nationally-ranked juniors and adults. Darwin has continued to develop his teaching philosophy for every level of the sport, and focuses on mastery of the fundamentals, precise technical details, and encouraging players to go beyond what they think is possible.

  • Jack Livingston, Tennis Coach

    Jack grew up in Haworth, NJ, and currently lives in Haskell. He's been playing tennis since 5, and absolutely loves it. Jack played varsity tennis for Northern Valley Regional High School, currently still competes in USTA and UTR leagues and tournaments, and has a PTR Pro Instructor certification.

    Grew up in Haworth, NJ and is currently a resident of Haskell, NJ

    Tennis is his passion, and has taught him many lessons in life, on and off the court. Jack's goal is to pass those lessons on to his students, and help them go from good to great.

  • Jim Stairiker, Tennis

    Jim Stairiker, Staff Pro

    Jim is a passionate, professional, high-level coach who likes helping taking players to the next level, and still competes himself to this day. Jim has a huge passion for helping players who are serious about reaching their highest potential on the court.

    Jim learned to play tennis on the clay & grass courts of Philadelphia where he became a junior champion, winning such tournaments as the Philadelphia City Jr. Championships,.

    More recently, Jim was ranked #1 in the Men’s 55 & Over category for the USTA in 2016, and still competes at the national level.

    Brian is from Morris Plains, NJ. He grew up playing tennis for Parsippany Hills High School where he played in the no. 1 singles position all four years. Brian is USPTR certified and has over 4 years of tennis coaching experience at all ages and levels, from working with brand new beginners to high-level juniors and adults. He has taught at a variety of prestigious academies throughout New Jersey.

    Brian incorporates a psychological approach to his teaching, believing that a strong mindset helps unlock the very best in every player. He also focuses heavily on fundamentals such as technique, basic strategy, consistency, and movement.

  • Arnav Sundaram, Tennis Coach

    Arnav "Arnie" Sundaram grew up in Rutherford, NJ, and has been playing tennis basically his whole life. His dad is a tennis coach, and his brother was a high-level player as well (both his brother and himself spent years training with co-founders Aaron and Matt back in the day).

    Arnie played 1st singles all 4 years of high school, currently plays on the club tennis team at Fordham University, has been coaching tennis since 2020, and has been a ball boy at the US Open for the last 6 years!

    James Orosz, Junior Pro

    James is a Bloomfield High School student in his junior year. He plays third singles on varsity and has an earned all-colonial division 2nd team award.

    James has been playing tennis since he was four years old.

    James is great with kids, and loves helping your players learn to play and have fun while on the court. James helps teach junior clinics and camps.

  • Tessa Westlund, Tennis Coach

    Tessa Westlund, Junior Pro

    Tessa grew up in Montclair, NJ, has been playing tennis since she was 4, and currently plays on the Montclair High School girls varsity tennis team.

    After attending First Serve Tennis high school clinics for years, she joined the coaching team! She loves helping kids learn to play the game and have lots of fun.

    Tessa is passionate, enthusiastic, and always has a smile on her face when she steps on the court.

  • Jasper Carkeek, Tennis Coach

    Jasper Carkeek, Junior Pro

    Jasper currently lives in Montclair, but was born in Bristol, England. He started playing tennis when he was 7, and began taking private lessons with co-founder Aaron (back in 2018 before First Serve Tennis was even born). He has trained with First Serve throughout his middle school and high school career, and currently plays for the Montclair high school tennis team.

    Jasper's favorite shot is the inside out forehand. If you ever get to see him hit it, Jasper has a BIG forehand. Jasper helps teach clinics to our kids between the ages of 4 and 9.
